Top 5 Summer Vacation Spots in Michigan

What are the best vacation spots in Michigan? Whether you are looking for a Michigan beach vacation or a fun night on the town, here are our visitors' favorite summer vacation getaways:

1. Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island Most people who have been to Michigan will tell you that Mackinac Island needs to be on your list of must-see vacation spots in Michigan. This small area seems to have just halted in time. You can only access the island by boat, and no motorized vehicles are permitted on the island.

To get around, people take bicycles or hire a horse-drawn carriage. On the island you can explore the old-fashioned stores and take a look at all the quaint homes. Since the island is just under 4 square miles, it is easy to explore the whole thing.

2. Pictured Rocks

Pictured Rocks If you want to see some unusual natural formations, the pictured rocks are a great spot to go for your next vacation. Many people recommend taking a boat ride on Lake Superior to see these rocks. While you are in the area, you can also look into taking a glass-bottom boat tour to glimpse the diverse underwater life in the area.
3. Traverse City

Traverse City Beach If nothing else, you should visit Traverse City to enjoy its white sand beaches. This is a great way to get the feeling of a tropical vacation without leaving the U.S. Also, if you like festivals, the Traverse City cherry festival is really a site to be seen if you have the time. Be sure to plan ahead for this since it is such a busy time of year.

4. Isle Royale

Isle Royale To have nature and adventure surrounding you and right at your fingertips, visit Isle Royale. Here you can take advantage of the miles of hiking trails, boating, and even shipwrecks that you can explore. There are also many places to observe wildlife from, and there is a good chance of getting a glimpse of a moose or wolf while visiting.
5. Downtown Detroit Downtown Detroit

Yes, Detroit had to come up sometime. If you are looking for some city life to toss into your trip, downtown Detroit is the place to go. No matter what you are interested in, you can find it. If passionate nightlife is what you are after, there are many great nightclubs you can visit, along with a couple casinos. There are also elegant theaters you can visit if you are looking for something a little more refined.

The city of Detroit is a great place to go if you want to see what the busy side of Michigan has to offer!

As you can see, there is a wide variety of things to see in Michigan.

No matter what you are seeking, whether it is family-friendly activities in the natural beauty of the state, or adult nightlife in the middle of the city, you can find it here.
