We love Traverse City!

Whether you are looking for a remote romantic beach or a fun family-friendly atmosphere, Traverse City is a cool vacation town.

As for my family--we love to stay in a condo right on the beach in the summertime, and we could stay the whole summer long! It's our little piece of heaven!

It is a beautiful place to visit on vacation all year long with a wide array of activities to suit any season.

Located on the edge of Lake Michigan the activities include camping and fishing, boating, hiking and even the famous Cherry festival (which is definitely something we try not to miss!)

Summer Activities

Surrounded by fresh green forests and shiny blue waters, this place is an outdoor adventurers dream. You can hike on the sandy beach or on a quiet trail in the woods. If you are up for it, pedal an all-terrain bike along a scenic piney trail.

The trail network in and around the area is just about the best you can get for in-line skating, hiking and biking.

What is more? It is getting better all the time. Plans are even in the works to connect all the individual trails into one massive network.

Awesome Beaches

Some of our favorite beaches are right here in Traverse City. Enjoy sunning yourself, swimming or boating along the shore during the day, but don’t forget to catch some of the most fabulous sunsets over the water at night!

Water sports

Our family loves the water! Grand Traverse Bays offer so many opportunities to enjoy just about any water sport. The bays are there just begging to be enjoyed by water enthusiasts, whether it is boating, water skiing, jet skiing or chartered fishing. If you love water like us, there is something you will find worthwhile.

Love Good Wine?

It has the ideal climate, with vineyards protected by winter snows and conditions moderated by proximity to Lake Michigan. This has given rise to a wine industry that has been recognized for its quality and variety since the first winery opened here in 1974. There are a number of wine tours available for those interested in enjoying an afternoon of wine tasting. Want a romantic getaway? This one’s a can’t miss!

Cherry Festival

July is one of the best months of the year to visit in Traverse City. Why? Because Traverse City is home to the National Cherry Festival!

This festival is held once a year with the cherry picking season begins. There are parades, rides, contest and all sorts of events throughout this festival that makes visiting during this time an excellent choice. Just plan early! Hotels, rental homes, condos and bed and breakfast accommodations fill very early!

Winter Activities

There are a number of sports to enjoy in the wintertime including ice fishing, sledding, snowmobiling and enjoying a beautiful white winter wonderland. Or you can grab cross-country skis or snowshoes and move silently through a white wilderness. Alternatively, strap on downhill skis and slide down well-groomed alpine runs.

After a day of outdoor fun don’t forget that there are two area casinos. They offer Black Jack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Roulette, and over 200 slot machines!

It is easy to see why we think Traverse City is one of the coolest vacation getaways any time of year!
