Sleepy Hollow State Park --Laingsburg, MI

My favorite Michigan campground is in Sleepy Hollow State Park, located in Laingsburg, MI (on Lake Ovid). It is a fantastic "get away" near many major cities (Flint, Pontiac, Lansing).

The amenities at this state park include hiking, camping (modern and remote), swimming, boating, fishing (including pontoon rentals!), and biking.

I enjoyed the fact that if we needed something that we forgot to bring, we were about 20 minutes from Meijers and other major retailers. The fact that it is in this particular location makes it a wonderful place to stay -- because it seems so remote but isn't. We have stayed at this campground (reasonably priced)during the summer, every year for the last 3 years. It is a rather short commute from the downriver area -- roughly 1 hour.

It's very relaxing and they offer guided trails as well as park guides for learning experiences (wildlife / rangers / kids). This park comes highly recommended!
