Silver Lake State Park

I love Silver Lake State Park.

is home to Petite Pointe Au Sable, or Little Sable Lighthouse. It is located on Lake Michigan, just south of Pentwater. The pristine sand dunes stretch for miles, unbroken except for the hardy grass that grows there.

The water of Silver Lake is warmer because it is inland, and shallower. It is a clear blue. This is one of the most beautiful places on God's earth.

There is something about this unbroken peace and gentle restfulness that draws me there year after year.

The lake area itself is situated far enough from tourist attractions that the beach scape is not marred by them.

Camping is available at state parks and local campgrounds nearby. Many restaurants and a few souvenir shops are only a short distance away - but not located directly on the beach.
