Visitor Review: Shanty Creek is a nice resort for staying in Michigan to ski. It has two different directions to ride with one being longer and less steep and the other being shorter and quite a bit steeper with a 450' vertical drop.
All in all its not a bad place to ride.
It has a total of 52 runs so there are a lot of options to keep you busy there if you stay for a few days. They also have trails for cross-country skiing and a pool if you like variety.
We stayed in Schuss Village and had a nice view of the ski slopes right from our room.
I agree and then some. Shanty Creek has as good of skiing as anywhere else in Michigan but with better prices. And my kids prefer the terrain parks at Shanty.
The reviewer stayed at Schuss but whenever we go we stay at the Lakeview Hotel on the Summit side of the resort. The rooms there are really nice with flat screen TVs and complimentary WiFi.
Then we take advantage of the free shuttle service over to Schuss to ski. Hint: we get dropped off at Cedar River and access the purple lift and are closer when we want to go tubing.
For midwest skiing, Shanty Creek may be the best overall value.
