Whether you are looking for a day trip or a romantic getaway vacation to see the colors, this is one fabulous display of natural beauty that you do not want to miss!

When are the Colors Best?

Fall colors in Michigan start changing in the Keweenaw and Western Upper Peninsula first and then spread south and east across the rest of the Upper Peninsula. Then they take their show to from north to south over the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Color is delayed in places that are close to Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.

Color updates are given each Wednesday beginning in September through the end of October about Michigan fall-color conditions. To hear the update 24 hours a day, you can call 800-442-2084, ext. 304.

One of the most beautiful ways to see the fall colors is to take a winery tour in the Traverse City area in October. Most of the area wineries have absolutely gorgeous views of the fall colors and it is a stunning drive to get there!

A few of the wineries also offer Bed and Breakfast accommodations if you want to make it a weekend getaway! (Who knows? You may see us there!)

Many of the local hotels also offer fall vacation packages to anyone enjoying a Michigan fall color tour.

Enjoy the beautiful changing colors of Michigan!
