Whether you and your family enjoy historic sites, beautiful beaches, or museums, it offers something for everyone. One of my favorite places is Fort Michilimackinac and the accompanying reconstructed village. This military outpost was founded in 1715 by the French to serve the fur-trading business.
From May 1 to October 30, you also might like the Bridgemen Museum which is open free of charge to the public. This one of a kind museum shows a movie of how the amazing bridge was constructed with the help of men of many trades. You will see the actual setting of iron as well as the machine that braided the steel. There are also many hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast establishments near Mackinaw City Michigan. There are camping sites and lodges that will meet the need of any traveler. If you choose to visit in the winter, snowmobiling is a great way to spend your time. There are established trails and places to rent your equipment. No matter what the season, visitors to the Mackinac area will enjoy their stay and enjoy the warm hospitality of Mackinaw City.
