Lake Erie Metropark, Brownstown, Michigan

If you are looking for a quiet getaway for a day with some beach scenery added in, then Lake Erie Metropark is a great place to visit. Just 20 minutes south of Detroit, this wonderful park is close enough to the big city, yet far enough away for a relaxing peaceful experience.

Among its attractions are: well kept beaches, numerous picnic areas, nature trails, a golf course, and a water park. I always enjoy taking my dog there and going for long quiet walks on the trails. It's not a flashy place, but well worth a visit for a day.
