Where Do Our Visitors Think the Best Winter Vacation Spots Are?
Mt. Brighton Ski Areaby Bobbie (Indiana, US) We love going to Mount Brighton to ski. It is not a big mountain with a lot of difficult slopes. Perhaps that is what we like best about it. It is here that we get a lot of personal attention taking skiing lessons and our children are treated so well. The kids, then, feel free to try out what they are learning without a lot of "hotdoggers" to avoid coming down the mountain from more difficult slopes.
Frankenmuth, MI areaby April (GA, USA) I love going to Frankenmuth for family winter vacations because it helps put me in the holiday spirit! Frankenmuth is home of Bronner's which is a huge Christmas store. My family and I have spent HOURS there! They have the Bavarian Lodge right there which is a fun place for the family to stay. And Frankenmuth has many good restaurants and FUDGE shops! Plus, it's just a few miles from the outlets at Birch Run which has dozens of stores where we like to do our holiday shopping. And finally Frankenmuth itself is beautifulat Christmas time. With the horse drawn carriages and twinkling holiday lights, it's just beautiful!
Double JJ Ranchby Rachel (Michigan, US) Double JJ Ranch is a western-themed resort with an indoor water park. Swimming, tube riding, and water sliding are possible any time of the year! Double JJ also has horseback riding, western-themed kids and family activities, and "romance" packages for adults. They offer many special packages and special pricing days, especially in the winter, so it is really affordable.
Grand Haven and Hollandby Kyle (Washington, DC, United States) One of the best winter in Michigan experiences I've ever had, was visiting Lake Michigan in January-February. Yes, It was cold and slippery, but the beach and shallow lake was covered in small icebergs and chunks of ice grinding against each other and creaking. It was really cool. Also the pier was covered in ice and icicles from the lake spray and the freezing rain. It was beautiful. I highly recommend it, but be careful, it is very cold and dangerous with all of the ice, but the beauty soon makes you forget the weather.
Bear Lakeby John (Maryland, US) Why is it the best winter vacation spot? Game hunting, ice fishing, close to state land, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing!
