Drummond Island, MI

My favorite place: Drummond Island, Michigan!

We used to have relatives on Drummond Island, so we visited there quite often. It is accessible by a ferry from Detour, MI, a point far east in the UP.

It's a small island, but it is fun to visit. There is a quarry, with crystal clear, flat water. There is a project in process which is a beautiful, wide road made of white stones.
Drummond Island is very popular for hunting, fishing, ATV riding, and snowmobile riding in the winter.

There are plenty of trails and one road lead to a gorgeous open bay made with flat, black rocks that somehow were pitted. It is also a very popular place for bear sightings!
