Detroit has plenty for you to do. So many restaurants, museums, sports events, etc. For starters, you must head downtown and go to the Greektown District. Lots of great restaurants down there (Fishbone's and Pegasus are my favs.) One of three casinos are also located down there.Next head to Campus Martius. If it's the summer or spring time, you will more than likely find some kind of event going on down there and in the winter, you can head down there and ice skate. Henry Ford Museum is nationally known and it's a great place for a day trip with the family. Greenfield Village is also part of the complex. Another great thing for the family would be to take a day trip over to Canada and enjoy another country not less than 5 minutes away!! There is so much to do.
